I really don't understand the comments like the one in the lede of this article about the current state of affairs at Playboy magazine.

I wonder where the idea that porn is recession proof comes from.

Hello, journalists: While there is a glut of free porn out there available if you're resourceful enough (and willing to break a couple of laws), porn costs money. It costs money to make it, distribute it and (key point here) to buy it or rent it.

And if the decision comes down to rent or porn, or food or porn, then for the vast majority of us - food or rent wins.
